Perfectly Stated!

I had lunch with a wonderful friend of mine today (Thanks Donna!). We relaxed (which I don't do easily these days) in her beautiful backyard, feasting on scrumptious Chinese takeout. After sufficiently stuffing myself with my sweet and sour chicken I reached for my fortune cookie. While I LOVE the cookie part of fortune cookies, I usually find the "insightful" message inside it to be a bit ridiculous and often don't give it a second glance. But today my message caught my eye and I thought it was perfect (and insightful indeed). It made Donna and I both laugh, and is now posted on our fridge. This is what it said:

"The coming month shall bring winds of change in your life."

To which I say to fortune cookies everywhere, "BRING IT ON!!"

Tick Tock, Tick Tock

My common response to the age old question, "How's your summer going?" has always been "FAST!" It's amazing to me how a simple phone call can change everything. In early June, Todd and I were notified by our adoption agency that we had been selected by a birth mother. Our joy was insurmountable, yet laced with a bit more caution. A full month after that call and meeting the birth mother, we started spreading the news. And now, two months have passed and I am updating our blog. One month to go, and we will have our new baby girl. Yes, I said GIRL!!

We are so excited to meet our little lady. We have brainstormed names, registered for everything pink, daydreamed of our future, and continually prayed for a safe and healthy arrival.

While we have been reassured that her September due date will be here "before we know it," it indeed feels like time has drastically slowed down, and the summer that usually flies by is slowly creeping along!
